Description
The funding competition “Mensch miteinander!” of the Mannheim Citizens' Foundation honors civic engagement in Mannheim. Private individuals, initiatives, and associations can submit their project concepts between September 15 and October 5, 2026. Required are a meaningful project portrait, a striking photo, and answers to three questions about the engagement. In the open voting phase from October 20, 12:00 PM, to November 2, 2026, 12:00 PM, citizens vote online for their favorites; afterwards, a professional jury decides on the award winners. The funding includes a prize pool totaling €27,000: 1st place €10,000, 2nd place €5,000, 3rd place €2,000, plus the special prize “Hero of the Street” worth €3,000 and €1,000 each for the ten submissions with the most votes. The award ceremony will take place on November 26, 2026, at the Sparkasse Rhein-Neckar Nord premises at Paradeplatz.
The goal of “Mensch miteinander!” is to make visible projects that promote integration, intercultural coexistence, and social networks in Mannheim. Supported are initiatives that have their base or engagement anchored in Mannheim and consistently implement the values of the “Mannheim Declaration for Living Together in Diversity.” The call is of interest to all engaged in the fields of Social Cohesion & Democracy, Social Affairs, Children & Youth, as well as Work & Social Services. The Mannheim Citizens' Foundation thus supports not only financially but also offers a platform through public relations and networking to sustainably strengthen the diverse engagement in the “Quadratestadt.”
