Description
The FONTE Foundation Visiting Professorships specifically promote outstanding early-career researchers in the humanities at selected universities nationwide. The focus is on research and teaching projects related to the Early Modern Period as well as gender-specific issues in disciplines such as General and Comparative Literature, German Studies, English Studies, Romance Studies, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, Film Studies, and Gender Studies. In cooperation with partner institutions from Berlin, Potsdam, and Saarbrücken, semi-annual visiting professorships are awarded to provide an attractive initial career opportunity during the search for a professorship or comparable position. This foundation initiative supports early-career academics by providing an appropriate working environment, remuneration within the framework of sponsorship, and the possibility of extension for an additional semester.
Applications may be submitted at any time and are addressed to candidates holding a doctorate with a habilitation certificate or equivalent qualification. The selection procedure includes a cover letter and an academic curriculum vitae with a photograph, supplemented by a publication list, a record of previously taught courses, and concepts for future teaching and research projects. Selection is made jointly by the FONTE Foundation and the faculties of the participating universities in accordance with their statutes and nomination rights. This ongoing funding format offers qualified researchers practical integration into academic structures and contributes to strengthening early-career humanities scholars on a national scale.
