Description

The Maria Möller Foundation annually awards twice in North Rhine-Westphalia the research promotion prize for oncological studies at the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, each endowed with €2,000. Selected projects in the field of cancer research are honored and financially supported during the planning and initial phases. Individual applicants as well as research institutions affiliated with the Medical Faculty Münster may submit their research designs. Applications are submitted centrally through the faculty, ensuring expert selection by the dean’s office and a panel of experienced oncologists. The call aims to promote innovative approaches in the research of diagnostic and therapeutic options for malignant diseases and to achieve a sustainable strengthening of scientific junior research.

Only those project proposals initiated by scientists or researchers from the University of Münster and clearly anchored in the thematic focus of oncology are eligible for funding. The call is equally addressed to doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and experienced research teams engaged in basic or translational research. A formal confirmation of affiliation with the Medical Faculty as well as a precise presentation of objectives, methodology, and expected results are required. Through this funding, innovative concepts receive an initial financial basis to generate pilot data, expand research partnerships, and prepare long-term third-party funded projects. The Maria Möller Foundation thus sends a clear signal for excellent oncological research in the region and strengthens the scientific infrastructure at one of Germany’s leading medical faculties.
