Description

The research funding of the Central German Childhood Cancer Research – Foundation for Research and Healing supports scientific projects in the field of pediatric oncology at university children's hospitals and research laboratories in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Funding is exclusively granted to tax-privileged corporations and public institutions headquartered or located in one of the three federal states. As a grant provider, the foundation enables seed and bridging financing, with which project teams often generate additional third-party funds. Applications can be submitted continuously in German and must include a project description formulated in generally understandable language, a detailed cost breakdown (personnel and material costs), evidence from the animal experimentation commission (if animal experiments are planned), as well as, if applicable, the approval of the responsible ethics committee. A legally binding signed original copy must be submitted to meet the funding requirements.

Applications are evaluated based on the scientific relevance and integration into the current state of research, the comprehensibility of the project, and the transparency of cost disclosure. The foundation awards funds without deadlines and places special emphasis on sustainable impact in the Central German region. Through targeted support of innovative investigations and therapeutic approaches, the funding contributes to the development of new diagnostic procedures and treatment strategies for children with cancer. The Central German Childhood Cancer Research – Foundation for Research and Healing thus provides an important impetus for the advancement of pediatric oncology and interdisciplinary exchange within the professional community.
