Description

The Willy Hager Foundation continuously awards grants nationwide to support innovative research projects in process engineering for the treatment of process and drinking water as well as wastewater. The aim of the funding is the development and practical testing of modern methods for water treatment, wastewater purification, resource recovery, and recycling. Projects focusing on the treatment of industrial and commercial water, the provision of purified and ultrapure water, as well as the reintegration of treated wastewater into production processes are particularly supported. Funding decisions are made by the Foundation Board based on the fundamental significance of the project for the Foundation’s objectives, the accessibility of results to the professional community, and positive evaluations by at least two independent experts.

Eligible applicants are researchers at German technical universities, universities, and colleges; applications from the University of Stuttgart are given priority in accordance with the Foundation’s statutes. Funding covers personnel costs for early-career researchers, material resources, material grants, travel expenses, equipment costs, as well as an overhead allowance of up to 5% of the requested funds. The project application includes a brief project title, a summary (1–2 pages), a detailed presentation of the current state of research, objectives and methods, expected results with risk assessment, preliminary work already completed, a timeline and budget plan, as well as information on involved personnel and collaborations. Submissions can be made at any time in accordance with the guidelines of the Willy Hager Foundation.
