Description

The Peter and Traudl Engelhorn Foundation annually honors an outstanding early-career scientist in the life sciences with a research prize endowed with €10,000. The award recognizes individuals conducting their research in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland who have already distinguished themselves through significant scientific achievements and innovative contributions in their field. Nominations by renowned representatives of the scientific community are possible, as are self-applications by qualified candidates. With this award, the Foundation aims to promote excellent performance and sustainably support early-career researchers.

Eligible to participate are researchers whose doctoral studies began no more than ten years ago (maternity and parental leave are taken into account). The decisive factors are the quality of publications, the relevance of the contribution to the respective research field, and the innovation potential of the presented work. The application must include a detailed CV with scientific career, a list of publications, a justification of scientific excellence, and two letters of recommendation from recognized figures in the professional community. Nominations and self-applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026. The award is decided by an expert committee based on established evaluation criteria; legal recourse is excluded.
