Description

The Dr. Georg-Scheuing Foundation annually awards two research fellowships for early-career researchers at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with the aim of strengthening international cooperation and promoting scientific excellence. Founded in 1988 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Hoechst AG, the foundation supports young researchers in temporarily transferring to one of JGU’s partner universities. The grants are non-repayable subsidies and are open to individuals from the group of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers who have their primary residence at JGU and submit a concrete project plan for the stay abroad. Since the funding is advertised nationwide, interested parties from all faculties of Johannes Gutenberg University can benefit and expand their research network beyond national borders.

Through the flexible design of the duration of stay—usually between three and six months—the funding offers diverse opportunities to deepen methodological skills and network with international experts. The continuously advertised fellowships contribute to sustainably realizing scientific projects in the fields of research & innovation and intensifying intercultural exchange. Early-career researchers at JGU Mainz planning a stay at a partner institution will find attractive support for travel, living, and research expenses in this program. The Dr. Georg-Scheuing Foundation places great importance on a fair selection process and accompanies the funded projects with feedback rounds to ensure the transfer of acquired knowledge back to the home university.
