Description
The Professor Dr. med. Lothar Diethelm Memorial Foundation specifically supports early-career researchers at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz through international research stays. Since its establishment in 1988 by Hoechst AG, the funds awarded annually enable two individuals from the group of postdoctoral researchers and doctoral candidates to undertake a temporary stay at one of JGU’s numerous partner universities. The funding is provided as a grant and aims to strengthen professional networks, promote interdisciplinary exchange, and sustainably advance innovative projects in the fields of science, research, and innovation. Applications can be submitted at any time without fixed deadlines, allowing for flexible planning of stays abroad.
Early-career researchers at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz who are planning a stay at one of its partner institutions benefit from straightforward application and approval procedures. The foundation not only supports the research stays themselves but also offers the opportunity to establish long-term collaborations and explore career prospects in an international environment. Through the combination of continuous awarding practice, clearly defined eligibility criteria, and close integration with the JGU community, the scholarship program significantly contributes to strengthening early-career researchers in Rhineland-Palatinate and underscores the commitment to promoting excellent research at the University of Mainz on a global level.
