Description
The FTI Initiative for the Transformation of Industry supports innovative projects for the development and demonstration of climate-neutral production technologies in the Austrian industry (Vienna region). With a budget of 240 million euros until the end of 2026, this call aims to replace greenhouse gas-emitting plants with future-proof technologies and to advance them sufficiently so that annual CO₂ emissions can be reduced by up to 500,000 tons by 2030. Funding is provided to companies in the manufacturing industry, energy supply companies, technology providers along the value chain, as well as research institutions and universities. The funding is granted as a subsidy; applications must be submitted in English and can be filed until 31.12.2026. A mandatory preliminary discussion with the FFG at least four weeks before the deadline is required for submission in the innovation lab or as a flagship project; for the focus area of demonstration plants, a technical description of the pilot plants is also required.
The initiative covers the thematic areas of research & innovation, energy efficiency & renewable energies, as well as climate protection, and supports project consortia with significant industrial participation in testing prototypical applications. Applicants must be natural or legal persons or partnerships outside the Austrian federal administration. Detailed information on submission, formal requirements, and funding areas can be found on the Transparency Portal as well as on the FFG website. The initiative lays the foundation for the technical and economic success of climate-neutral production “Made in Austria.”
