Fundraising/Crowdfunding for Landscape Conservation Projects (German Landscapes Foundation)

The German Landscapes Foundation enables an innovative financing model for large-scale landscape conservation projects throughout Germany with its crowdfunding grant. As a funding instrument, the program pools regional resources from citizens, companies, and nonprofit actors together with landscape conservation associations and community foundations. The goal is to effectively implement projects with high species protection value and strong regional ties. By combining local willingness to donate with foundation funds, acceptance on site is strengthened and the long-term preservation of cultural landscapes is secured. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing committed project sponsors to begin planning and implementation promptly.

Only nonprofit organizations and public institutions working in close cooperation with a regional landscape conservation association and implementing their project in Germany are eligible for funding. Prerequisites for a successful application include a precise project description, a coherent financing plan, and proof of partnership with the landscape conservation association. Evaluation criteria are regional anchoring, species protection value, and acceptance among the population. Interested landscape conservation associations, community foundations, and local environmental actors thus receive appropriate support to jointly preserve and further develop the diversity and beauty of German cultural landscapes together with dedicated donors.
