The Guest Performance Funding for Independent Theatre Groups of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony enables professionals and freelancers working in the performing arts to present already developed theatre and dance productions at new venues in rural areas of Saxony. The aim is the sustainable expansion of existing productions through public guest performances outside established cultural centers. Eligible to apply are individuals as well as non-profit organizations directly involved in the preparation and execution.
Funding is provided in the form of fee subsidies of €200 per person and performance as well as organizational cost subsidies of €200 per performance, for example, for travel and accommodation expenses. New productions, improvisational theatre and comedy events, or revivals at the original production venue are excluded. Required are a brief description of the production, information on the premiere, details about the organizer and guest venue, artistic CVs of all participants, as well as a written venue confirmation. Applications for guest performances in 2026 can be submitted via an online form starting January 15, 2026 and must be received at least one month before the planned guest performance. Decisions are usually made by the Cultural Foundation’s office within four weeks of application receipt.
