Description
Since its founding in 1245, the Großes Waisenhaus BMV Foundation has supported charitable and benevolent projects aimed at promoting young people in Braunschweig and the surrounding area. The focus is on supporting disadvantaged or impaired children and adolescents as well as their families. Private individuals, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions may submit funding applications at any time. Prerequisites include having a registered office or residence within the funding area, project design in accordance with the foundation’s purpose, and, in the case of benevolent funding, proof of disability. Eligible costs include, among others, project expenses, material and travel costs, therapeutic devices, as well as holiday and family recreational activities. The foundation values economically sound concepts with a share of own funds and evaluates applications based on purpose alignment, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable impact. Through its funding guidelines, the foundation commits to prudent use of resources and requires evidence such as invoices, a cost and financing plan, tax exemption certificate, disability ID, and confirmation of grant receipt. Remaining funds must be returned immediately upon request.
As a public law foundation, the two-person board ensures transparent decision-making processes and close support of grant recipients. Grants are awarded on a project basis and for a limited period. After project completion, proof of proper use of funds must be submitted within three months to document appropriate utilization. The foundation promotes sustainable social, educational, and inclusion initiatives for the region in cooperation with further partners. The goal is to foster the development of responsible and community-oriented individuals. Applications can be submitted flexibly—the foundation guarantees prompt processing and supports applicants throughout the entire process. Promising projects receive support to empower young people in their development and to strengthen the social fabric of Braunschweig in the long term.
