Description
The Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (KDT JU) is a public-private partnership jointly supported by the European Commission, Member States, and industry associations. Its aim is to promote projects in digital key technologies such as electronic components, systems, system integration, and software components, thereby strengthening European competitiveness. Grants are available to companies, universities, and research institutions within the European Union or associated Horizon Europe countries. Thematic priorities focus on digitization, mobility, as well as research & innovation. Calls for proposals are announced annually through an open and competitive procedure, with exact deadlines published per call. The amount of funding varies depending on the type and scope of the submitted projects; detailed financing conditions are defined in the respective call documents.
The focus lies on the development of advanced semiconductors and secure, trustworthy technologies whose applications address key challenges in mobility, health, energy, security, manufacturing, and digital communication. Applicants must demonstrate how their projects contribute to the German High-Tech Strategy and comply with national requirements of the Horizon Europe partnership. The program supports collaboration between research institutions and industry partners as well as the exchange of experts to realize innovative solutions within European value chains. The KDT JU office in Brussels provides supplementary information, while the internal program exchange of knowledge and resources aims to establish a sustainable and powerful ecosystem of digital innovation in Europe.
