Description
The funding program Clean Aviation – Joint Undertaking for Clean Aviation (CAJU) is an EU research initiative launched by the European Commission, aimed at developing disruptive technologies for CO₂ reduction in aviation. Under Call 4, both consortium and individual projects are supported that advance sustainable, decarbonized aviation. In particular, projects focusing on innovative concepts for emission reduction, new propulsion systems, efficiency improvements, and digitalization solutions are prioritized. Grants are awarded for research and innovation activities in the areas of climate protection, environmental/nature conservation, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energies. This initiative offers companies, start-ups, educational institutions, public bodies, and non-profit organizations the opportunity to expand their expertise in the aviation sector and to collaboratively develop pioneering technologies with partners from multiple EU Member States or associated countries.
For an application, interested consortia or individual actors must be based in the EU or associated states and demonstrably possess project-relevant experience in the aviation or research sector. The target groups are research institutions, industrial companies, SMEs, start-ups, and thematic networks aiming to implement disruptive projects for aviation decarbonization. The call for proposals enables financial support in the form of grants and contributes to advancing the EU’s climate goals and sustainable mobility. Project proposals can be submitted until May 19, 2026. The initiative thus provides an excellent platform to bring together international experts and accelerate groundbreaking innovations for clean aviation.
