Description

The Community Work Funding Program in Hesse is aimed at municipalities that wish to set sustainable impulses in districts and neighborhoods facing particular social and integration policy challenges. The program is administered by the Hessian Ministry of Labour, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs, which grants subsidies in the fields of social affairs, health, as well as labour & social affairs. Funding is provided especially for the establishment of neighborhood offices and coordination centers, as well as tailored, socially integrative measures that strengthen self-organization, neighborhood networking, and voluntary engagement. With a funding rate of 75 – 100 % of eligible expenses, innovative project approaches are supported that contribute to overcoming social problems and promote the participation of all residents in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Eligible to apply are counties, independent cities, and special-status cities in Hesse that define their funding areas based on suitable quantitative and qualitative indicators and can demonstrate the particular social or integration policy challenges. Applications can be submitted by October 31 of each year; investment projects and construction measures are excluded from funding. The State Working Group on Social Hotspots Hesse e.V. acts as a service center providing advice, knowledge transfer, and qualification, and supports implementation on site. Municipalities thus benefit from practice-oriented support and tailored funding instruments to sustainably improve the quality of life and social cohesion in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
