Support for measures to strengthen social cohesion in the Free State of Saxony, in particular civic engagement, projects of social significance, model projects, culture of remembrance, as well as initiatives of the umbrella organizations of independent welfare organizations.

Description
The funding program supports non-profit organizations and public institutions in the Free State of Saxony with grants to strengthen social cohesion. It promotes civic engagement, socially relevant projects, model initiatives, commemorative culture, and initiatives of the umbrella organizations of independent welfare services. The goal is to provide sustainable impulses for a vibrant democracy and a solidaristic coexistence. Project sponsors such as municipalities, associations, clubs, non-profit foundations, or limited liability companies can apply for grants, provided the projects make a positive contribution to social cohesion and are based in Saxony.
Applications are aligned with the respective program sections: For the volunteer support program “Wir für Sachsen” (We for Saxony), applications must be submitted by October 31 of the previous year. Programs for further training and the Engagement Foundation require submission by September 30. Socially relevant projects can be applied for by September 30 for the first half of the year and by March 31 for the second half. Projects related to commemorative culture are not bound by fixed deadlines, while initiatives of the umbrella organizations must be submitted no later than September 30 of the previous year or before the start of the next approval period. A prerequisite for funding is a minimum monthly commitment of 20 hours of voluntary work as well as the residence or habitual abode of the engaged persons in the Free State of Saxony. Parallel funding from other state programs is excluded. The amount of grants depends on the type and scope of the measure and contributes to building sustainable structures for a strong community in Saxony.
