Description
The Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection funds supraregional projects and measures of particular health policy interest as a grant provider. Funding is exclusively provided to non-profit organizations with a supraregional focus that align with the key areas of the national health promotion strategy. The funding targets initiatives in the thematic fields of health, education, social cohesion/democracy, as well as labour & social affairs. Applications can be submitted at any time; costs incurred before the application submission date are not considered. Eligible expenses include material costs, personnel costs, event and travel expenses. Model initiatives that would not be feasible without federal funds receive support – for example, in developing healthy living environments, strengthening health literacy, or in preventive model projects such as networks for psychosocial health and participation.
The objective is the preservation, promotion, and restoration of health in the population, as well as sustainable capacity development in the area of health promotion and prevention. Funded projects cover the intervention levels of health promotion, primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention – ranging from information and education to early detection programs and interconnected model projects. Key evaluation criteria include the supraregional scope of the project, consistency with the national health promotion strategy, and impact orientation. Application documents include a project description, proof of non-profit status, a financing plan, evidence of supraregional implementation, and the electronic application. The factual basis and solidarity orientation ensure a transparent awarding process, which opens concrete prospects for non-profit organizations and strengthens health-promoting cohesion throughout Austria.
