Description
The Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) funds gender equality initiatives of nationwide relevance, with the aim of sustainably strengthening equal opportunities for women and men in politics, business, and society. Recipients of funding are non-profit associations, federations, and organizations that plan and implement supraregional measures. A prerequisite is that the projects cannot be funded by a single federal state alone, seek permanent establishment, and contribute to the overarching federal gender equality strategy. Interested actors must submit their application at least twelve weeks before the start of the respective measure.
Funding is provided, among other things, for personnel costs, travel and accommodation expenses, fees for speakers, fixed-amount financing for events, publications, working materials, as well as co-financing of EU projects. In addition, model projects, nationwide networking activities, and major events may receive grants. The amount of funding depends on the type and scope of the proposed project, whereby co-financing in the form of infrastructure, own permanent staff, or voluntary engagement is possible. Through non-discriminatory participation and offerings open to non-members as well, the program contributes to strengthening political and social participation and sets impulses for sustainable gender equality structures throughout Germany.
