Description

Global Europe is an EU grant program that provides new impetus to international cultural and creative projects in neighborhood, development, and partner countries. Since 2021, it has combined various EU external aid funding instruments and focuses on measures that promote sustainable development, peace, social stability, and poverty reduction. The thematic priorities include human rights, democracy, civil society, intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity, and the protection of endangered cultural heritage. Furthermore, projects are supported that strengthen local craft and tourism structures as well as recognize and expand the role of culture in sustainable development and non-violent conflict resolution through educational work. The program also supports cooperations through which artists and cultural professionals worldwide gain networking opportunities and local traditions are preserved and further developed.

Public institutions, non-profit organizations, and companies based in a participating country can apply for funding. Depending on the respective call, international partners are required to achieve cross-border impact. Both thematic projects and initiatives in defined regions such as the EU neighborhood area, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and overseas territories are funded. Currently, there are no open calls. As soon as new calls are published, they will provide insight into the specific regional and thematic requirements. Interested stakeholders are advised to monitor developments closely to respond promptly to the next funding round and to initiate visible societal changes worldwide through committed cultural work.
