Description

The Gradmann Award is presented every two years to outstanding scientific theses on the topic of Digitalization and Dementia. Since 2025, the call for submissions has been nationwide for the first time and is aimed at doctoral candidates as well as students of social and behavioral sciences, nursing science, or related disciplines who have addressed the diverse interactions between digital technologies and dementia in their doctoral, bachelor's, or master's theses. This award, granted by the Erich and Liselotte Gradmann Foundation, honors innovative research approaches that contribute to improving the quality of life for people with dementia and translate scientific findings into practice.

Eligible to participate are individuals whose scientific work meets the funding requirements — namely the submission of a thesis in the specified thematic field and affiliation with a relevant academic discipline. The next thematic focus and corresponding deadlines will be announced in mid-2026, allowing interested parties to prepare their documents in good time. The award supports early-career researchers and strengthens interdisciplinary research projects that advance digital transformation in health and social care. The further development of digital aids and innovative care models is as much a focus as the ethical and social implications of modern technologies in the context of dementia.
