Description
The annually awarded prize in Graz honors outstanding projects that advocate for equality, empowerment, and feminist causes. With a prize money of €6,000 and the symbolic “Superwoman” motif as a trophy, initiatives are recognized that promote gender justice, break down stereotypical roles, and reduce discrimination. Funding is provided to associations, non-profit organizations, NGOs, project initiatives, working groups, network cooperations, as well as individuals residing in, working in, or born in Graz. A prerequisite is that the project has already been implemented or completed and has a clear connection to the city. An enlightening impact and pioneering work in the feminist or women’s political field are central to the jury’s evaluation.
Applications are submitted informally through a project description in accordance with the funding guidelines. Submissions can be made at any time, as deadlines are announced annually on the city’s website. The jury, consisting of representatives from various political and civil society institutions, decides based on criteria such as the promotion of gender justice, development of empowerment strategies, and raising awareness against violence. Through the public award ceremony and media coverage, the nominated projects are brought to the forefront and presented as catalysts for an inclusive, democratic society. This continuous support aims to sustainably highlight the commitment to girls and women in Graz and to create role models.
