Greenbaker Certification (Greenbaker Foundation)

The Greenbaker certification of the non-profit Greenbaker Foundation honors bakeries and branch operations in Germany that advance entrepreneurial sustainability development based on clear hard facts aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Interested companies first undergo a quick check to assess their basic eligibility for certification and then submit relevant corporate documents. Following a positive evaluation, an external on-site audit is conducted, the results of which, together with the quality of the submitted documentation, are incorporated into the final decision. With the Greenbaker seal, committed businesses receive visible recognition for their contribution to climate protection, resource conservation, and social responsibility.

The initiative is understood as a continuous improvement process: each certified company commits to meeting at least one hard fact per SDG and additionally sets individual sustainability goals. In addition to ecological aspects such as energy efficiency, renewable energies, and waste management, social criteria—such as fair working conditions and equal opportunities—as well as transparent corporate governance play a central role. Thanks to ongoing application opportunities and transparent evaluation, the award promotes entrepreneurial transformation towards environmentally friendly and future-proof business practices.
