Greißlerei Funding

The Greißlerei funding program of the State of Upper Austria supports small grocery retailers with non-repayable grants and interest subsidies to secure and expand local supply in rural areas. Eligible are companies with an active trade license for a full-range operation, employing no more than 15 employees at the investment site and operating up to seven business locations. Investment priorities include new construction or renovations, modernization, expansion, quality improvement, product range extension, as well as the takeover of existing businesses. Applications must be submitted online within the period from 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2026 before the project start and require a coherent project description including cost, financing, and schedule plans. Disbursement takes place after submission of all documents and positive review by the Department of Economy and Research of the Upper Austrian State Government.

Eligible expenses include planning and consulting (fees as ancillary acquisition costs), construction and adaptation of buildings, acquisition of operational and business equipment, as well as the buyout of investment goods in business takeovers. A prerequisite is also secured financing of the project and a sustainable contribution to the company’s success. The processing is carried out via the Upper Austria Economic Portal; personnel and material audits are conducted based on invoices, payment receipts, and, if necessary, on-site inspections. With this measure, the state makes a direct contribution to strengthening regional retail and to the long-term securing of food supply in Upper Austria.
