Description
GründachPLUS is a grant program of the State of Berlin for the sustainable greening of existing buildings. It is aimed at private individuals, companies, non-profit organizations, as well as other authorized parties in designated inner-city areas. Funding is provided for new green roofs starting from 100 m² and ground-based facade greening from 50 m² (wall-mounted from 10 m²) with a vegetation substrate layer of at least 8 cm. The funding objective includes improving air quality, rainwater retention, urban biodiversity, and urban climate effects such as heat reduction. Applications for projects not yet started can be submitted until 31.12.2027.
The funding rate ranges between 50% and 100% depending on the measure; green roofs are subsidized up to €180 per m², facade greening up to 50% of eligible costs, and combined roof and facade greening up to 60%. Eligible costs include, among others, planning and consulting, fall protection, substrate installation, biodiversity green roofs, and irrigation systems. Excluded are new buildings, renovations of existing green roofs, cash receipts, as well as asbestos and PVC roof coverings. Selection is based on the degree of innovation, participatory neighborhood involvement, and societal benefit. For the application, documents such as an identity card or passport, proof of ownership, De-minimis declaration, preliminary and main application, project description, site plan, offer documents, and a financing plan must be submitted. The application procedure is divided into preliminary and main application, which is processed by IBB Business Team GmbH.
