Description

The funding program "Green Infrastructure" within the framework of the ERDF/JTF program NRW 2021–2027 provides approximately 50 million euros in EU and state funds to support nature-oriented projects in urban and rural areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. The goal is the protection and development of open land areas, woody structures, water bodies, floodplains, and wetlands. By strengthening sensitive ecosystems and promoting biodiversity, the program significantly contributes to the connectivity of ecologically valuable areas between settlements and their surrounding regions. Projects that aim both to preserve and sustainably design green and water areas particularly benefit from financial support.

Eligible to apply are municipalities, districts, and other public institutions as well as associations, clubs, and companies with headquarters or responsibility in North Rhine-Westphalia that wish to implement a project in the field of Green Infrastructure. The Arnsberg District Government acts as the responsible funding authority, coordinating the program and providing expert support from application submission through project implementation. A detailed project description and proof of relevance to the funding objectives are prerequisites for a successful application. The combination of ERDF and JTF funds offers applicants an attractive opportunity to advance nature-oriented measures and improve quality of life equally in urban and rural areas.
