Description
The basic funding for sports associations in Lower Austria supports non-profit representative bodies of competitive club sports in managing their core tasks. Expenses for game and competition operations, association administration, training and further education, communication and insurance costs are taken into account, as well as office supplies, room rentals, energy, and IT costs. Eligible to apply are sports associations registered in Lower Austria with recognition by the Lower Austrian State Sports Council and full membership in the Lower Austrian Sports Association Council. The aim of the funding is, on the one hand, a professional representation of the member clubs' interests and, on the other hand, to ensure a statewide championship operation. The amount of the grant is calculated based on the number of clubs and members, competition days, association personnel, as well as the fulfillment of quality criteria in sports association management – these include, for example, strategy development, reporting, transparent public relations, and equal opportunity measures.
Applications can be submitted annually within three months after the start of the association’s fiscal year; the funding period covers a maximum of twelve months. The funding amount is granted upon submission of the following documents:

- Proof of employment extent of association personnel
- Statutorily approved financial statements of the previous year
After approval of the funding, payment is made in one tranche following verification of the proper use of funds. An early start of funding enables solid financial planning in association operations and contributes to the long-term strengthening of sports in Lower Austria.
