Gustav Schübeck Scholarship

The Gustav Schübeck Scholarship was established based on the testamentary provision of Professor Dr. Ursula Ewald and is part of the DAAD Foundation's funding activities. It honors the memory of Gustav Schübeck (1899–1918) and supports international research stays with the aim of promoting intercultural exchange and international understanding. The scholarship is aimed at German graduates and doctoral candidates in economic and social history or economic and social geography. The funding enables independent research and fieldwork in Latin America, Spain, or Portugal, thereby contributing to the broadening of scientific perspectives.

Eligibility for funding requires German citizenship or an equivalent status as well as enrollment in the specified fields of study. The planned research trip must primarily take place in the designated funding regions and relate to the preparation of a final thesis. Since the call for applications is continuously open, applicants can submit their funding requests at any time and thus secure the necessary resources for their studies abroad in a timely manner. This initiative provides early-career researchers the opportunity to carry out their research projects on site and to build valuable international networks.
