Description

The Hamburg District Culture Prize annually honors outstanding cultural initiatives in Hamburg’s neighborhoods and awards submitted projects with convincing concepts, successful implementation, and noticeable resonance. Non-profit associations and interest groups with realized project results and based in Hamburg can submit applications continuously and without a fixed deadline. An expert jury awards the main prize of €10,000, while an online public vote determines the audience prize endowed with €2,000. The continuous submission option enables flexible participation without being tied to a rigid application period.

With the funding objective of strengthening cultural participation and creating inspiring examples for other districts, the competition sets impulses for creative imitation and intercultural cooperation. Evaluation criteria include the quality of the project concept, the effective engagement of target groups, and the transferability to other district-related initiatives. In addition to the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media, the Hamburg Cultural Foundation, the Gabriele Fink Foundation, the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S., and the Patriotic Society of 1765 are committed as prize sponsors and cooperation partners. Through recognition and financial support, sustainable structures are promoted that make cultural engagement visible locally and foster networking within Hamburg’s district landscape.
