Description

The Hanne and Hermann Lenz Residency Fellowship offers German-speaking authors a three-month residency in the historic residence of Hanne and Hermann Lenz in Munich. Up to twice a year from March 2027 onwards, workrooms, living spaces, kitchen, and garden will be available. The fellows receive a monthly stipend of €2,500 to fully focus on their literary work. The program promotes creative engagement with the literary legacy of Hermann Lenz and strengthens cross-regional exchange among cultural and media professionals. The fellowship is administered by the Hermann Lenz Foundation, supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.

Funding is granted to individuals with proven German-language literary activity and a thematic connection to the work or writing project in the spirit of Hermann Lenz. The call is aimed at authors who develop innovative literary concepts and wish to advance the dialogue between tradition and the present. The three-month fellowship runs in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) and is limited to the duration of the residency. The funding contributes to the sustainable strengthening of the cultural landscape in Bavaria and honors the legacy of one of Munich’s most significant writers.
