Description
The Hans Weisser Scholarship supports committed entrepreneurial personalities and founders residing in Germany who wish to expand their professional and personal skills through a tailor-made further qualification project abroad. It targets young professionals and founders up to 40 years old with at least a bachelor's or master's degree (or master craftsman’s certificate) and two years of qualified professional or founding experience. The aim is to realize innovative projects with a clear societal benefit and to strengthen the entrepreneurial network. Selected scholarship holders benefit from individual support as well as mentoring offers and become part of a vibrant alumni network of the Hans Weisser Foundation and the Foundation of German Business. The next application round is expected to start in summer 2026, with project commencement possible from April 2027.
Funding is provided for stays abroad lasting from two to twelve months, with a monthly living allowance of €1,800, a one-time start-up grant of €500, and a travel allowance (short-/medium-haul €500, long-haul €1,000). Additionally, a fee subsidy of up to €25,000 is available. Scholarship holders with severe disabilities can apply for an aid allowance of up to €800 per month; additional funds are granted for accompanying children or necessary companions. Funding priorities include, for example, research stays, certificate programs, company or learning trips. Exclusion criteria are projects in Germany, ongoing consecutive years of study, or partial further training without a reorientation character. Key evaluation criteria are innovativeness, sustainable planning, convincing learning objectives, as well as personal background and motivation. Application documents include an online form, project description, motivation letter, CV, certificates, and proof of experience and commitment.
