Description
The Friedrich-Thieding Foundation of the Hartmannbund annually awards two scholarships to students of human and dental medicine in Germany who combine outstanding academic achievements with demonstrable professional or socio-political commitment. Private applicants are supported with a monthly grant of 250 euros over a period of 12 months. The funding period begins in the year following the ceremonial award in autumn, with the funds primarily intended to cover living expenses. Application documents must be submitted no later than June 30, 2026.
Prerequisites for a successful application are current enrollment in human or dental medicine studies and proof of excellent academic performance. Additionally, a detailed record of professional or socio-political engagement during the course of study is required. The application must include an informal letter of motivation, copies of academic transcripts and certificates, proof of engagement, as well as a current enrollment certificate. In the selection process, in addition to academic achievements, particular consideration is given to social commitment and active participation in medical studies. Recipients also commit to participating in the foundation’s professional-political seminar series and to publishing a report on their engagement. This program is aimed at aspiring medical professionals who wish to sustainably advance research, teaching, and adult education.
