Homeland Award (City of Monschau)

Since 2021, the Homeland Award of the City of Monschau has recognized outstanding local commitment within the city area, thereby promoting social cohesion, democracy, and local social initiatives. Funded through the "Homeland. Future. North Rhine-Westphalia" program of the state government, a total prize money of €5,000 is awarded to particularly dedicated clubs, informal groups, and individuals. With this distinction, the City of Monschau brings exemplary projects into the public eye, honors practical impulses for homeland preservation, and thus provides valuable examples of commendable civic engagement.

All non-profit organizations and private individuals who actively contribute to the community through their voluntary efforts in Monschau and its immediate surroundings are eligible to participate. The Homeland Award acknowledges diverse activities in the areas of commitment to social cohesion, work & social affairs, and contributes to strengthening democratic culture. Applications are evaluated and awarded based on the specific local engagement. The call for applications invites submissions of inspiring projects that enrich communal life and foster identification with the homeland. Through this, the City of Monschau emphasizes the value of voluntary commitment for the community and supports motivated actors in making their ideas and projects publicly visible.
