Description
Heimat-Scheck North Rhine-Westphalia supports up to 1,000 local and regional projects annually with grants of €2,000 each, aimed at strengthening identity and community spirit within the state. Eligible applicants include associations, initiatives, non-profit organizations, private individuals, public institutions, and companies in North Rhine-Westphalia. Projects eligible for application fall within the thematic area of Culture, Media & Local History, such as publications, exhibitions, events, acquisition and restoration of exhibition furniture, presentation technology, development of new forms of presentation, as well as signposts and information boards. The program offers 100% funding (type of funding: grant) and covers a period of up to 12 months. Reapplication is possible annually; projects must be completed by December 31 of the fiscal year.
The following conditions apply for granting: implementation within the state of NRW, publicly accessible offerings, minimum eligible expenses of €2,000, no parallel public funding for the same project, and only one grant per recipient per calendar year. Criteria such as relevance to local or regional identity, degree of innovation, and voluntary involvement are considered in the selection process. Not eligible for funding are typical club equipment (sports, music, or carnival clubs), club celebrations and trips, pure renovations of sports facilities or clubhouses, as well as acquisitions of furniture, clothing, medals, trophies, instruments, or sports equipment. Required documents include the online application via the Heimat funding portal, a brief project description, a cost breakdown or estimate, and, if applicable, a property owner’s consent declaration. Applications are accepted continuously, no later than October 31 of the funding year. Interested parties receive expert support from the responsible district governments.
