Description
The Hieronymus Lotter Prize for Monument Preservation 2026, awarded by the Leipzig Cultural Foundation, honors outstanding achievements in the field of building and monument preservation in Saxony for the seventeenth time. On a biennial basis – alternating with the Architecture Prize of the City of Leipzig – private and public monument owners or clients are recognized who contribute to the preservation of historic building fabric through particularly careful restorations or refurbishments. The focus is on projects in Leipzig that have been or will be completed between October 2024 and September 2026. The prize sends a clear signal for exemplary commitment in urban development and underscores the importance of monument-appropriate renovations for the region’s cultural heritage.
Eligible to participate are all owners or clients of listed buildings in Leipzig; completion within the specified evaluation period is mandatory. Applications require only an informal written submission including the project name, building description, and meaningful photographs. Additionally, information about the client and the responsible planning office (name, address, telephone number, email) must be attached in digital form (PDF). The complete documents must be submitted by September 4, 2026. The award ceremony will take place during the specialist trade fair “denkmal 2026” in the Richard Wagner Auditorium of the Old Nikolai School. The Hieronymus Lotter Prize provides a platform to bring outstanding monument projects to public attention and to inspire a broad professional audience for sustainable monument preservation.
