Description
The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg supports independent production companies as well as producers and start-ups based or operating in the region in the development and production of first-class high-end series. The funding is provided as an interest-free, conditionally repayable loan covering 30% to 80% of eligible expenses, including development costs, production and directing costs, post-production, as well as the required regional impact. A prerequisite is proof of distribution interest (LOI), compliance with the Respect Code Film, and the binding implementation of ecological and diversity-promoting concepts. The next submission deadline is May 5, 2026; decisions are made during the quarterly funding sessions.
Innovative and programmatically outstanding series formats for linear and non-linear platforms that provide a clear added value to the media location are supported. Applicants must submit a precise financing plan, an exposé or treatment or script, producer’s notes, option or rights contracts, as well as a detailed proof of the regional economic factor. The loan repayment is made from exploitation revenues and generally ends five years after the first public release. A balanced composition of creative and production teams as well as sustainable “green filming” are given particular weight as part of the evaluation. This funding not only strengthens the local infrastructure but also expands the international visibility and competitiveness of Berlin-Brandenburg series production.
