Description
Assistance for upbringing and schooling in Lower Austria is a government grant in the fields of Social Affairs, Education, Work & Social Affairs as well as Vocational & Further Education. Since 2013, private individuals with significant impairments have been supported to fully finance necessary measures for educational and upbringing support. The funding covers 100% of the costs incurred for regular instruction, partial or full residential care, as well as additional travel expenses if no transport option is available. This initiative ensures that people with special needs in Lower Austria have unrestricted access to education and upbringing.
The funding is administered by the Office of the Lower Austrian State Government, Department of Finance, F1. Applications can be submitted continuously and without limitation to the municipality, the district administrative authority, or the state government. Prerequisites include belonging to the group of disabled persons defined in § 24 NÖ-SHG, proof of Austrian citizenship or equivalence, and a primary residence or stay in Lower Austria. Furthermore, no comparable benefits from other legal or contractual provisions may be received. Submission of a standardized application form is sufficient for applying. Eligible expenses include all costs of upbringing and schooling, expenses for partial and full residential care, as well as incurred travel costs. Upon positive approval, the grant is paid directly to the applicants and helps to reduce barriers in the educational and upbringing sector.
