Description

The Relief Fund for People with Intellectual Disabilities of the Caritas Community Foundation in the Archdiocese of Berlin provides financial support to disadvantaged individuals with cognitive impairments in the Berlin region. Funding is granted for individual assistance for necessary purchases, energy cost arrears, group travel subsidies, care services in the home environment or nursing homes, as well as medical needs, insofar as these are not covered by public authorities, health, or long-term care insurance. A recognized intellectual disability, proven financial need, and exclusion of usual cost bearers are prerequisites. Applications can be submitted at any time through a Caritas counseling center or another non-profit organization. Allocation is made after reviewing the funding requirements and the applicant’s financial situation.

For the application, a fully completed application form, proof of intellectual disability, income and asset statements, as well as a recommendation from Caritas counseling are required. The foundation places great importance on unbureaucratic individual assistance: applicants receive a prompt decision so that urgent purchases and care services can be implemented quickly. Interested parties can find detailed information and the application form in printed form at any Caritas counseling center in Berlin. The fund thus offers reliable support for people whose needs are not covered by standard services and who urgently depend on additional commitment.
