Description
The state funding supports people with disabilities in Lower Austria in shaping their everyday lives independently and sustainably securing social participation. Through a non-repayable grant for the acquisition of assistive devices, the living conditions made difficult by a disability are alleviated and deterioration is prevented. Items funded include walking aids, wheelchairs, rollators, hearing aids, prostheses, orthopedic shoes, or electronic communication aids. The goal is to maintain mobility, independence, and participation both professionally and privately, and to reduce existing barriers.
Applications are submitted in an unbureaucratic and ongoing manner to the responsible municipality, the district administrative authority, or the Lower Austrian state government. Requirements include the main residence or stay in Lower Austria, proof of Austrian citizenship (or equivalence), as well as belonging to the group of persons with disabilities according to § 24 NÖ-SHG. There must be no entitlement to the same benefits under other legal bases. After positive review, the funding amount is paid directly to the fee claim of the assistive device provider. Applications can be submitted at any time to ensure timely, needs-based provision.
