University Anniversary Fund of the City of Vienna for the Promotion of Science

University Anniversary Fund of the City of Vienna for the Promotion of Science enables financial support for small, independent research projects conducted at Viennese universities, scientific institutes, qualified associations, or by individuals. The fund is specifically aimed at young researchers and institutions with a clear project focus and residence or workplace in Vienna. Projects in the fields of science, research & innovation are supported, excluding bachelor’s theses, diploma theses, dissertations, and textbooks. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing temporal flexibility without fixed deadlines restricting planning.

Grants of up to €20,000 per project are available, with preference given to projects related to Vienna and applications from young researchers. The application requires a meaningful project description with a comprehensible summary and a detailed work plan, supplemented by a clear cost breakdown (including quotes if applicable). Additionally, a CV of the applicant(s), a publication list as proof of scientific qualification, and proof of residence and/or workplace in Vienna must be provided. The allocation of funds is the responsibility of the fund’s board of trustees, which reviews the eligibility for funding and issues funding decisions in regular meetings. Payments are generally made from December following the resolution in October.
