Description
The Holocene Project of the DSZ – International Giving Foundation promotes the development of scientifically grounded, open-source energy transition models and freely accessible datasets to safely limit global warming within the planetary climate boundary of 1 °C. Eligible for funding are individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations from the EU. The focus is on climate protection, research & innovation, science, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. With ongoing funding opportunities in the form of earmarked grants, the project supports international donors in enabling the work of leading scientists. The model series integrates over 150 technologies and negative emissions solutions, covers 800 regions worldwide, and delivers socially equitable pathways back to the 1 °C boundary. The open-source data is freely available to all interested parties and is intended to generate a global network effect.
The funding objective is to identify innovative negative emissions approaches and provide transparent energy data to create fair, scientifically based strategies for an accelerated energy transition. The DSZ – International Giving Foundation exclusively verifies the non-profit status of recipient organizations in accordance with the German Fiscal Code. Interested donors submit a completed donation form – applications can be made at any time. Through straightforward processing, German donation receipts are issued and reporting obligations to tax authorities are fulfilled. Thus, the Holocene Project offers a reliable platform to support globally impactful research initiatives and to promote exchange between politics, science, and business.
