Description

The Horizon Europe Seed Funding of the State of Lower Austria supports researchers at universities, universities of applied sciences, and non-university institutions in Lower Austria in preparing applications for the EU Framework Programme Horizon Europe. With grants of up to €15,000 for the coordinator and up to €7,500 for participants, personnel expenses, fees, travel, and workshops in the application preparation process are funded. The goal is to sustainably increase both the quantity and quality of Horizon Europe applications from the region and to impart specific competencies for EU collaborative projects to applicants. Applications can be submitted continuously, with the Coordinator Contact submitting no later than three months and the Participant Contact no later than one month before the respective EU call deadline.

Eligible for funding are educational and public institutions based in Lower Austria that assume the role of Coordinator Contact or Participant Contact within the consortium. Requirements include, among others, priority consultation by the FFG National Contact Point (proposal check for coordinators), submission of a project description including consortium planning, and proof of legal status. The funding covers up to 90% of eligible costs. Evaluation criteria include previously received seed funding and the alignment of the EU call with the institution’s research strategy. A maximum of two grants per person is possible, whereby a second application as coordinator remains permissible even after twice receiving funding as Participant Contact. To apply, a project description, cost calculation, and written confirmation of the consultation must be submitted. The transparent processing is carried out via the online form of the State of Lower Austria.
