Idea Competition "School Moves Saxony"

The Engagement Foundation Saxony invites all schools in Saxony to participate in the idea competition “School Moves Saxony” to implement creative engagement activities as part of the 2027 Day of Honor. A total of 27 winning schools will each be awarded €500 to support projects that promote participation, democracy education, and respectful coexistence. Awarded projects can include, for example, action days, workshops, encounter formats, or beautification initiatives. The focus is on themes related to human dignity, democracy, freedom, cohesion, and responsibility in the spirit of the Basic Law Day (May 23). The implementation of the successful concepts is scheduled for the period from May 17 to 31, 2027.

All public and private educational institutions in Saxony are eligible to participate, provided the school administration approves the submission and the idea is submitted by students or the student council. Required are a completed application form, a project description, and a letter of approval from the school administration. A qualified jury evaluates the concepts based on engagement relevance, student participation, feasibility, visibility, local impact, creativity, and sustainable effect. The submission deadline is September 30, 2026. After selection by the jury, the winners will be announced in January 2027. This prize money offers schools the opportunity to make democratic action immediately tangible and to sustainably strengthen the school community.
