Description

This EU research call is aimed at companies, public institutions, educational establishments, and non-profit organizations in EU Member States and associated countries that wish to further develop the digital EBRAINS infrastructure for neuroscience, brain health, and brain-inspired technologies. Funding is provided for the operation of existing, optimized, and new digital services, including access to European high-performance computing up to exascale, cloud services, as well as innovative AI tools for intuitive user interactions. The goal is to achieve breakthroughs in brain research, medicine, and robotics through data-driven models and multi-scale analyses, and to advance digital brain twins for clinical application – in line with FAIR principles and the European Health and Brain Data Spaces.

100% of eligible costs (personnel, material and travel expenses, subcontractors) are funded up to a total grant amount of €32 million. Applications must be submitted by 16 June 2026 via the Funding & Tenders Portal; the call opens on 10 March 2026. Participating research institutions must be registered in the participant register (PIC) and comply with Horizon Europe guidelines. Evaluation criteria include excellence, impact, as well as quality and efficiency of implementation. An expert jury and EU project officers will review submissions according to Horizon Europe rules. Scientists from neuroscience, clinicians, industrial users, and developers of brain-inspired applications will benefit from a strong research community and state-of-the-art cloud platforms. The call creates a unique opportunity to establish sustainable and cross-border collaborations within the European Brain Health Partnership and to help shape the future of digital neuroscience.
