Description
The Inge Deutschkron Prize honors the commitment of young people in Berlin who continue the life’s work of Holocaust survivor Inge Deutschkron. In remembrance of her many years of lectures, readings, and personal conversations, the prize is aimed at projects that focus on the rescue of persecuted individuals during National Socialism, the fight against right-wing extremism after 1945, and dealing with perpetrators in East and West Berlin. The goal is to counter antisemitic narratives, strengthen the culture of remembrance, and promote a living awareness of democratic values. Awarded are creative, substantively sound initiatives in the fields of education, culture, children and youth, engagement for social cohesion, as well as vocational training and further education.
Eligible for funding are groups of three to 30 participants aged 10 to 25 who implement their project in Berlin. The prize is awarded in the form of a distinction, realized with funds from the Inge Deutschkron Foundation and partner organizations. Applications require a detailed project plan outlining the thematic focus, planned activities, and intended impact. The jury consists of experts from the fields of education, culture, and contemporary history. The submission deadline and detailed participation conditions are available through the official channels of the Inge Deutschkron Foundation. The Inge Deutschkron Prize offers young activists a platform to keep memory alive and strengthen civil courage.
