Ingrid zu Solms Prize for Medicine

The Ingrid zu Solms Foundation awards the prestigious Ingrid zu Solms Prize every two years for outstanding scientific contributions in basic medical research as well as in psychotherapy, equivalent to a habilitation. With an endowment of €15,000, the award supports pioneering projects that have the potential to generate new impulses in health, research, and innovation. The aim is to highlight the scientific achievements of excellent researchers in Europe and to empower women in leadership positions. The award ceremony takes place in a formal setting and integrates the laureates into the exclusive IzS Fellowship for the long term, which fosters personal exchange and networking among highly qualified experts.

The prize is awarded to private female scientists under 40 years of age (with a one-time extension of two years in case of maternity) who have submitted habilitation-equivalent work at a research institution in the German-speaking European region. The selection is based on the criteria of scientific excellence, pioneering research contribution, and equivalence to a habilitation. All application documents, as described in the submission guidelines, must be submitted electronically by March 1 of every odd-numbered year. The foundation ensures that nationality plays no role and especially young talents in medicine and psychotherapy are given the opportunity to further develop their scientific profile.
