Multi-Substance Mixtures Initiative

The Vielstoffgemische Initiative promotes interdisciplinary research, teaching, and therapy with natural complex substances nationwide. Under the sponsorship of the Integrative Medicine & Pharmacy Foundation, a platform is being developed that networks naturopathic knowledge from traditional medical systems with state-of-the-art analytics. The goal is the development of integrative therapeutic approaches that unlock synergies between phytopharmaceuticals and conventional medicines. The focus is on complex plant extracts, whose constituents and mechanisms of action are investigated using the latest measurement technologies. The interprofessional exchange between scientists, therapists, and educators from pharmacy, biology, chemistry, and medicine aims to translate new insights into patient-centered applications and intensify the dialogue between research, education, and practice.

The funding is aimed at educational institutions, companies, non-profit and public organizations, as well as private applicants active in the fields of research & innovation, science, education & training, health, and work & social affairs. Grant applications can be submitted continuously, allowing projects of any scale to be realized. Particularly supported are projects related to complex substance mixtures, analytics, investigations of mechanisms of action, clinical case studies, and training programs in the field of natural product research and integrative medicine. Through the foundation’s neutral, manufacturer-independent approach, scientifically sound therapeutic options are to be established and the quality of life of patients sustainably improved. Interested institutions and professionals will find a continuous point of contact for the realization of innovative concepts in integrative pharmacy.
