Description
The Inclusive Sports Network of the Anstoß zum Leben Foundation promotes the development and dissemination of inclusive sports offerings in North Rhine-Westphalia, particularly in the Siegen-Wittgenstein region. As an ongoing grant program, it supports private individuals, interest groups, clubs, and non-profit organizations that are committed to accessibility and participation in organized sports. The goal is to connect people with and without disabilities through joint activities, reduce prejudices, and create a diverse sports landscape. Projects in the areas of sports, counseling, engagement for social cohesion, culture & media, as well as work & social affairs are funded. A prerequisite is active participation or cooperation within the Siegen-Wittgenstein funding area and demonstrable commitment to inclusive sports offerings.
Participating sports clubs and organizations receive financial assistance to implement training, information, and event formats that promote inclusive encounters. The program facilitates the exchange of experts, the establishment of local networks with partners such as the District Sports Association and the University City of Siegen, as well as the planning of joint events. Individuals can participate in existing initiatives or initiate their own projects. Through regular networking meetings and counseling, competencies are strengthened and long-term cohesion is promoted. Overall, the Inclusive Sports Network creates sustainable structures to enable people with disabilities to participate equally in sports and to make the region sustainably more inclusive.
