Eligible to participate are companies, start-ups, inventors, teams within companies, training companies, as well as actors from crafts, agriculture, the service sector, science, and freelance professions with headquarters or branches in Deggendorf. Submitted projects must not be older than five years at the time of application and must be fully completed by the end of July of the award year. The application phase usually begins in May or June. One innovation is awarded a cash prize of €2,500 and a certificate; in exceptional cases, the amount may be divided between two awardees.
Evaluation criteria include the initiation of a regional development boost, cross-border cooperation, proof of market readiness for serial production, the already completed integration into operational processes, and the actual creation of jobs. Applications must include a completed questionnaire, a detailed description of the innovation, and materials for visualization. The right to propose candidates lies with the mayor, the city council factions, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Chambers of Crafts, and the Deggendorf Technical University. The decision is made by the Economic, Tourism, and Cultural Committee, and the ceremonial award presentation takes place publicly in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the award year. The aim of the prize is to sustainably strengthen Deggendorf as an innovation location and to promote forward-looking solutions.
