Description

The Innovation Program Future Construction of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building is implemented by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development within the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning and supports technical, building culture, and organizational innovations in the construction sector nationwide. With a clear focus on climate protection, energy and resource efficiency, as well as affordable and design-flexible construction, the program aims to address current societal challenges such as demographic change and to advance the sustainable development of the building sector. By combining research funding, departmental research, and model projects, innovative approaches are supported that strengthen knowledge transfer between science, industry, and public administrations and contribute in the long term to pioneering standards in construction.

Targeted are research institutions, universities, companies, start-ups, non-profit as well as public organizations, and founders with headquarters or business premises in Germany who design projects related to construction, architecture, or urban development with demonstrable innovative character. The funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant. Funding priorities include resource-conserving building materials and energy-efficient building technologies as well as socially oriented solutions for affordable housing and qualitative local design. Applications can be submitted until September 1, 2026. Interested project sponsors who meet the requirements regarding the degree of innovation and project relevance will find a reliable partner in the program to set sustainable impulses in construction and actively shape the transformation towards climate-friendly building.
