Description

The Haspa Music Foundation annually provides instruments with a total value of up to €100,000 to promote the musical potential of young talents in Hamburg. High-quality wind, string, plucked, percussion, and keyboard instruments are available, which are loaned for three years. The selection is made by a distinguished expert jury that evaluates talent, educational concept, and professional expertise. In close coordination with the involved educational, cultural, and music institutions as well as music educators, the instruments are allocated either from a joint purchase or from the in-house inventory to ensure the best possible start to a professional music education.

Eligible for funding are all educational institutions working pedagogically with a demanding training model as well as music educators organized in the German Tonkünstlerverband with residence or activity in Hamburg. Decisive funding requirements are the proven talent of the students, the quality of the developed concept, and membership in the association. After the conclusion of the current jury session in April 2025, the next application round opens in January 2026. Both individual applications by qualified teachers and collective applications from institutions that sustainably support artistic young talent are funded. This initiative opens up new perspectives for children and adolescents and contributes to cultural diversity in the city area.
